HOUSEHOLD WEEE -PORTABLE BATTERIES AND ACCUMULATORS

The waste generated from portable batteries and accumulators can be disposed of free of charge through various methods, depending on the needs of users and the specific characteristics of the collection points, as outlined below:

  • Municipal Collection Centers: It is possible to dispose of portable battery and accumulator waste at the Municipal Collection Centers located within the municipality, which provide a free collection service accessible to citizens. https://www.raccogliamopiupile.it/
  • Distributors Equipped with Suitable Containers: Users can take advantage of the collection service at distributors, i.e., commercial establishments equipped with appropriate containers for the disposal of portable batteries and accumulators. This service, also free of charge, facilitates the proper disposal of waste at retail locations.

N.B. The service does not include the collection of used batteries resulting from maintenance and professional technical assistance activities.

  • Large Users: Users can dispose of waste from portable batteries and accumulators, including so-called “Large Users,” which refers to those who, in the course of their professional activities, are initial producers of such waste, provided they meet two criteria:
    1. The production of portable battery and accumulator waste must be at least 400 kg per year.
    2. Each minimum collection must be at least 100 kg.
  • Storage Centers: Authorized recovery or storage facilities under Legislative Decree 152/2006 and subsequent amendments that are capable of receiving waste portable batteries and accumulators.
  • WEEE Treatment Plants: Plants that can request the collection of waste portable batteries and accumulators solely from the treatment of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).

These methods of disposal have been defined to ensure an accessible service that complies with current waste disposal regulations, in order to protect the environment and encourage the proper management of these potentially hazardous materials.
